Week 44 - July 6, 2020

Aloha *Russian accent*

Sorry in advance... but this is gonna be another email with a water related portion in it lol.  We just can't seem to catch a break!!😂

So our sink is still ALMOST fully fixed lol.  But guess what happened recently... our housing district's hot water got shut off, probably due to remonts going on!  When we called our repair guy, he goes, "Yeah, no that's not a problem... that's just Ukraine," and then jokingly said we can write home about it, which I am now doing 😂.  Someone we teach told us that it is probably the remonts, too, and that it can last anywhere between three weeks, to maybe two months lol.  Lovely anticipation ahead!!  But, she gave advice!  She said when this happens, they fill a bucket with hot water and take showers with it!  So my choice was either a bucket shower, or a freezing cold Antarctica shower... long story short, I have been showering with a bucket for the last week lol.

OH, ALSO!!!  Our fridge started leaking)) I'm gonna count that as a water problem as well 😂.

All this really makes someone really grateful for reliable running clean water, trust me lol.  I love these mission life experiences here in Ukraine lol,  They are actually so funny and the best 😂.

This week, we also all got together as a district to help be part of a video that our mission is making to put on Facebook!!  It was way fun haha.

Also, we were walking by this little fountain we have in our area, and I said out loud, "What if someone just ran through that," and sister Olson says... "I've thought about it!"  And then I was like, "Hold up, wait, do it then!"  And then she said, "Okay," and then did it and it was hilarious, and we were all way proud 😂.

Moving forward!... we have had some really great lessons this week, and even found three new contacts to talk to!!  One of those lessons was really interesting though... pretty much one of the people we taught was trying to say that everything that Christ did, all his miracles, could simply be debunked into explanational reasons lol.  Walking on water for example... apparently a lot of people could do that! Especially with the help of science... mind you what scientific advancements there were 2000 years ago lol.  My favorite one tho, was this lol.  Jesus never really died, he was just in a deep sleep when he went into the tomb, and then woke up three days later 😂.  He then somehow moved a boulder, and his angelic, celestial, glorified personage as a resurrected being was simply a few nifty tricks to make him look accordingly.  I was shook 😂.

We have been having a lot of lessons about Joseph Smith recently.  I love to share the analogy of when you have one dot that represents the Bible, that you can draw many lines through that dot, each representing a different interpretation of the Bible.  But then when you add a second dot to the page, representing the Book of Mormon, you can only draw one line, representing how it makes one clear interpretation of Christ's teachings!!  I then like to conduct a little experiment with those we teach.  I send them a text in Chinese and say, "I want you to translate this for me right now."  And they say, "Well, I can't.  I don't know that language."  And then I ask, "Then how could Joseph Smith have translated an ancient language, far more difficult, covering about 400 pages of text (about the length of a Russian Book of Mormon), within such a short period of time, two hundred years ago when you couldn't simply whip our Google Translate, along side a very poor education, and somehow make every single verse and story not contradict itself, but tie in perfectly together?"  The only possible and true explanation, is because he was a prophet of God, holding power to translate the word of God.  Then we usually give them this talk to listen to for homework to top it all off lol. I'm speed typing right now so I hope that it all comes out with understanding lol.

All my love to y'all,
Elder Wilde
